Start with a separate Business migration

Cashflow Pilot's QuickBooks migration is in Business → Data migration → QuickBooks migration. Do not use the monthly banking statement importer for your historical accounting package.

1. Preserve your original books

Keep an untouched QuickBooks export or backup and record your most recent fiscal-period closing balances. Create a fresh Cashflow full backup and, where relevant, a separate Business Documents ZIP before replacing or rebuilding a Business workspace.

2. Preview the migration

Use the supported QuickBooks ZIP/XLSX workflow. Review customers, suppliers, accounts, transaction date ranges, opening balances, data warnings and the migration's integrity checks. Confirm the fiscal year and accounting basis before accepting the data.

3. Verify three practical figures

  1. Bank: compare a recent ending balance to your bank statement.
  2. Receivables and payables: review outstanding customer invoices and supplier balances.
  3. Trial balance: compare the account totals to your QuickBooks closing report for the same date.

For example, if a bank account has $8,500 in QuickBooks at month-end, do not accept a $9,000 value without explaining the $500 difference.

4. Continue with review-first banking

Import new bank activity separately after migration. New activity can enter Pending and must be categorized and posted appropriately; it is not automatically authoritative because an import completed.

What this does not promise

No accounting migration guarantees a perfect match of every source attachment, payroll workpaper, tax setting or historical exception. An accountant should review migrated opening balances and year-end outputs before filing or making consequential decisions.

Continue with your first business month and bank reconciliation.
