Know the payroll workflow

Cashflow Pilot can help calculate, validate, finalize, post and track 2026 Canadian payroll workpapers, but it does not automatically submit CRA or Revenu Québec filings or make remittance payments.

Before you begin

Set up the business and employee details, pay schedules, province, and applicable deductions and exemptions. Verify the employee's information and source documents securely, without copying sensitive identifiers into support messages.

Complete the steps in order

  1. Prepare and review a pay run before finalization.
  2. Confirm the payroll journal and resulting liabilities.
  3. Track source deduction remittances and match the real bank payments.
  4. Review annual payroll workpapers with the appropriate professional.

Example: gross to net

At fictional gross pay of $2,400 and total employee deductions of $520, net pay is $1,880. This is arithmetic only, not the real 2026 statutory deduction calculation for an employee.

Check current rules

Use the CRA payroll guide and relevant provincial requirements. Employer remitter types, rates and filing deadlines can vary.
